An Initiative by the Bharat Pratibha Sammaan Council, it seeks to unearth hidden gems and honor the unsung heroes of our beloved Bharat. The Bharat Pratibha Sammaan is a prestigious civil honour that recognizes the quiet champions of Bharat who tirelessly work behind the scenes to instigate positive societal changes. The award seeks to recognize works of distinction and is given for exceptional achievements or service in various fields of activity.
The Bharat Pratibha Sammaan conferred on the recommendations made by the Bharat Pratibha Sammaan Selection Committee, which is constituted by the Board of Directors every year. The nomination process is open to the public. Even self-nomination can be made.

Award Ceremony

The Bharat Pratibha Sammaan awards are organized annually and are typically presented by leading public figures of the Indian Government and the Honorable Chief Justice of India. The grand ceremony takes place in New Delhi, where awardees are presented with a Sanad (certificate) signed by the Chairman of the council and a medallion.
Notable attendees at past ceremonies have included former Chief Justices of India, spiritual leaders, former Union Ministers and celebrities, all coming together to recognize and celebrate India’s brightest talents and most dedicated citizens.

Recipients of this award have included Padma Shri Awardees, Senior Advocates of the Supreme Court of India, Members of Parliament, IAS officers, IPS officers, social workers, sportspersons, businesspersons, and film personalities, and many others who have made significant contributions to nation-building.

Bharat Pratibha Sammaan is not merely an award but a testament to the unwavering spirit that defines the essence of our nation. Our name, “Bharat Pratibha Sammaan,” encapsulates this very spirit, with “Bharat” representing the essence of India, and “Pratibha Sammaan” denoting the honour we confer upon those who excel.

Inaugural ceremony

The inaugural Bharat Pratibha Sammaan Award ceremony was held in 2024 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The event was graced by Honorable Justice K.G. Balakrishnan (Former Chief Justice of India & Former Chairman NHRC India) as the Chief Guest, along with senior advocate of Supreme Court of India Shri Pradeep Rai, Padma Shri Awardee Prof. (Dr.) Kamlakar Tripathi and Padma Shri Kumari Devayani ji and many more.

Eligibility Criteria

The Bharat Pratibha Sammaan is open to all individuals, regardless of race, occupation, position, or gender. The award seeks to recognize works of distinction and is given for exceptional achievements or service in various fields of activity, including but not limited to
  • Art (Music, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Cinema, Theatre, etc.)
  • Social Work (Social service, charitable service, community projects, etc.)
  • Public Affairs (Law, Public Life, Politics, etc.)
  • Science & Engineering (Space Engineering, Nuclear Science, IT, R&D, etc.)
  • Trade & Industry (Banking, Economic Activities, Tourism, Business, etc.)
  • Medicine (Medical research, specialization in Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Allopathy, etc.)
  • Literature & Education (Journalism, Teaching, Literature, Education Reforms, etc.)
  • Civil Service (Excellence in administration by Government Servants)
  • Sports (Athletics, Adventure, Mountaineering, Yoga, etc.)
  • Other Fields (Indian Culture, Human Rights, wildlife protection, etc.)
The award is generally not conferred posthumously. However, in highly deserving cases, the Council may consider it. The names of the awardees are published on the official website of the Bharat Pratibha Sammaan Council. The total number of awards given annually (excluding posthumous awards and those to NRI/foreigners/OCIs) is capped at 120.

Who decides

All nominations received for the Bharat Pratibha Sammaan are presented to the Selection Committee, which is constituted annually by the Board of Directors. The Bharat Pratibha Sammaan Selection Committee is headed by the Secretary-General, along with the Chairman, Board members, and four to six eminent individuals. The committee’s recommendations are then submitted to the Board Members of the council for approval.
